New Mazda 2 two door

The new Mazda 2 has released an all new model in the already excellent line up. The new three door Mazda 2 is targeted to be previewed at the Geneve auto show in March 2008. This is the first time that the Mazda 2 line up has had a three door version previous ‘used mazda 2‘ have traditionally had 5 doors.

Its a bold step for Mazda as it puts them in direct competition with the Vauxhall Corsa and Ford Fiesta models who have traditionally been the UK’s favourite small cars for several years now. This poses a problem with regard to supply and demand as they have to predict the sales in advance, in a high volume industry this is very difficult. The more you build the cheaper you can sell one for the fewer you build the more expensive each one is however this only works if you can sell your end product. So Mazda have to be confident to take on the big boys and gamble with this latest edition. If they go half harted and dont build enough units they could price themselves out of the market.

The new mazda 2 three door hatchback is designed to bring in this new customer base and ’steal’ from the other high volume manufacturers. All I have to say is good luck to Mazda!

The car is a fantastic looking vehicle and if its the same high quality build as the rest of the range then they should have no problems. Especially against Vauxhall who yet again have been dogged with recalls and issues with the latest new corsa. Ford on the other hand could be a problem they release the new Verve (will probably rename to New Fiesta) later this year and by first impression it is a fantastic vehicle as will all new Fords its light years ahead of the competition which is bad news for Mazda.  They should have got this car out at the same time as the New Mazda 2 5 door was released.

We should be seeing the New Mazda 2 three door hatch hitting our streets in late summer or autum this year.
